| As we begin (launch, initiate, open, inaugurate, activate, embark on) a new Fall season and school year, we invite you to help us celebrate (observe, mark, honor, commemorate, remember) the 10th anniversary of the publication of The Right Word—Roget and His Thesaurus. Published by Eerdmans Books for Young Readers, written by me, and illustrated by Melissa Sweet, TRW made its debut on September 15, 2014. The book introduced the original Thesaurus author—Peter Mark Roget—to young readers, their parents, librarians and teachers, and a decade later we still receive letters and emails from avid list-makers across the U.S. (the book is also available in Spanish and Chinese.) The Right Word received a Caldecott Honor, a Robert F. Sibert Medal, and an Orbis Pictus Honor, among many other awards. But the greatest honor is the continued joy and enthusiasm we feel from today’s readers who are just discovering Peter and his love of word lists! |
