Contest!
To mark the occasion of the fifty-year anniversary of the signing of Title IX, we are giving away a signed copy of Fall Down Seven Times, Stand Up Eight – Patsy Takemoto Mink and the Fight for Title Nine, written by Jen Bryant, illustrated by Toshiki Nakamura and published by Quill Tree Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.  And … a Daruma Doll, the book’s central image and traditional Japanese symbol of resilience.
Patsy never gave up in her fight to keep athletics a part of Title IX, which represented just 37 words of a much larger education bill passed in 1972. Her efforts and her passion for equality have affected millions of women in the professions, in education and in athletics. In 2002, a month after her untimely death, Title IX was renamed the “Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act” in honor of its champion. The book tells her story for young readers in a way they can understand and appreciate.
How to enter: send your full name, your mailing address and the words “Title IX Contest” in the subject line to: jen@jenbryant.com One winner will be drawn from the entries on July 23, 2022.
